As the founder and bandleader of iconic groups like Roha Band and Dahlak Band, he helped shape the sound of modern Ethiopian music. In April 2023, his self-titled vinyl album was reissued, featuring remastered recordings from the 1970s and delivering immersive, hypnotic Ethio-jazz. Yifru also serves as Chairman of the Ethiopian Musicians Association, advocating tirelessly for artists and their rights. His work continues to resonate across generations, earning him a legendary status both in Ethiopia and abroad.
